Pink Pledges a $500,000 Donation to Fight Horrific Brush Fires in Australia

On Jan. 4, Pink pledged to donate $500,000 to help battle brush fires raging against parts of Australia.

“I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires,” she wrote on Instagram and Twitter. “I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz ❤️.”

The fires have been burning since September, destroying over 1,400 homes and resulting in 23 confirmed deaths. They’re forecast to worsen as they reach more populated areas, like the Sydney suburbs. “We are facing another extremely difficult next 24 hours,” said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. “In recent times, particularly over the course of the balance of this week, we have seen this disaster escalate to an entirely new level.”

Pink is one of many celebrities who have expressed concern over the raging Australia wildfires. Selena GomezNaomi WattsNicole Kidman & Keith Urban, and Australia natives Hugh Jackman and Dacre Montgomery are also among the stars shining a spotlight on the tragedy.
